Description:

The Regional Lumber Sales Manager for the Pacific Northwest ideal candidate will possess deep industry knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in lumber sales and distribution.  The Regional Sales Manager will report directly to the Director of Sales and will be responsible for leading and managing the sales operations within the Pacific Northwest region, driving revenue growth, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring the successful distribution of lumber products. This role involves developing strategic sales plans, managing key accounts, and coordinating with internal teams to meet company objectives.

Requirements:

  • Experience in the lumber industry and knowledge of lumber markets in the PNW is preferred above all other requirements.  A minimum of 5 years of strategic sales and account management in lumber sales with a minimum of 3 years in leadership role are both requirements of this position.
  • College degree in sales, marketing or similar area is preferred
  • Adaptable to changing markets and industry trends; comfortable with sudden directional and strategic changes
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing large territories and working with regional distributors and suppliers.
  • In-depth knowledge of softwood, dimension lumber, and the regional market (Pacific Northwest)
  • Previous experience working with logistics
  • Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proven successful record of understanding financial impacts related to sales decisions
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in the lumber or building materials industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a collaborative, results-oriented approach.
  • Extensive travel required for account management and industry events, including occasional weekend travel in and around the Pacific Northwest
  • Live in Pacific Northwest region for accessibility to customer base 
  • Valid Drivers' license

Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions in the region.
  • Set and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on market conditions, competitive landscape, and progress toward goals.
  • Monitor team performance, offering feedback and strategies for improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze customer feedback to ensure satisfaction and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Manage and mentor a team of sales representatives, providing coaching, training, and guidance.
  • Identify new product opportunities and customer segments to drive growth.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market share and grow revenue.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the Pacific Northwest region.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts and reports, analyzing performance and adjusting plans.
  • Collaborate with the internal team, including marketing, logistics, and production, to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and stakeholders.
  • Attend trade shows, industry events, and meetings to represent the company and build networks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for major accounts, providing excellent service and support.
