Description:

The Distribution Sales Manager reports to the President and CEO and is responsible for prospecting and generating new business. This position requires cold calling on accounts in the field to generate new permanent sales as well as servicing existing accounts, while also performing required selling, costing, technical analysis, quoting activities to achieve continued profitable growth in the Sales department. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, or business or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in a distribution or sales management role within the woodworking, manufacturing, or related industries
  • Strong knowledge of raw materials (PB, MDF, plywood, hardwood plywood), woodworking and woodworking distribution network.
  • Skilled at conflict resolution, handling complaints, and communications in person, by phone, in written form, and email.
  • Proven experience in managing and growing distribution networks
  • Must have excellent customer relations skills including customer response, service improvement, and the ability and willingness to keep commitments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve problems and place a high value on customer service
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to maintain interpersonal relationships, while remaining professional.
  • 50% to 70% travel, mostly nationally

Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze quotes to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
  • Consult with clients after sales or contract signings to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support
  • Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders.
  • Develop and maintain market awareness and competitive trends.
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of focus product capabilities and product offerings.
  • Develop the essential strategic approach for sales with each account.
  • Develop volume and revenue forecasts, sales plans, and strategies for achieving desired results
  • Direct & coordinate activities involving sales of manufactured products.
  • Effectively communicates and negotiates complex sales contracts with customers.
  • Establishes and maintains processes that ensure accurate budget and forecast information for the business
  • Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates.
  • Follow up with customers on satisfaction and timely resolution of issues.
  • Knowledge of principles & methods for showing, promoting, and selling focus products.
  • Manages sales territory and sells focus products, generating target levels of revenue, volume, margins, and days outstanding from customer base
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Quote new business and update existing items in quote file.
  • Recommend products to customers, based on customers' needs and interests.
  • Report all significant developments & findings to the COO on matters that may impact a customer.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales & services in a timely matter.
