Description:
The Sawmill Maintenance Supervisor in Mississippi is responsible for assigning work to and daily training of maintenance millwrights to ensure work is completed in a timely, safe, and professional manner. Internally the position interfaces with co-workers and employees to ensure the smooth operation of the facility, coordinates work with production to prevent unnecessary down time and adjusts work schedules to accommodate emergency breakdowns. Primary challenges to this position include meeting production targets, maintaining staffing requirements within budget, meeting quality guidelines and maintaining alignment between all departments through effective communication. The position has the authority to train and direct the workforce within the prescribed policies, procedures, and regulations of the operation.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a maintenance supervisor level role in an industrial or manufacturing environment with a demonstrated ability in safely delivering operational excellence.
- Demonstrated experience in safely leading manufacturing processes, predictive and preventative maintenance, productivity, and/or cost process improvements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent team-building and motivational skills.
- Have excellent problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of high production sawmills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in the electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic area.
- Strong mechanical and welding knowledge.
- Lean manufacturing/5S experience a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in promoting a continuous improvement culture through communication and coaching employees as well as finding opportunities for streamlining production activities and enhancing value-added processes.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and training by leading manufacturing principles and events with supervision.
- Develop, implement and maintain maintenance team schedules and detailed maintenance planning schedules that drive continuous improvement and support all elements of plant mechanical/electrical functions.
- Ensure quality standards and order specifications are met throughout the manufacturing process of the wide range of products.
- Foster a safe work environment, ensure maintenance personnel are practicing "best safe work practices", lead the identification and mitigation of all work hazards for the jobs performed prior to work commencing.
- Other Duties as needed.
- Responsible for cost control and benchmarking, planning, scheduling and other high-level managerial tasks.
- Takes measures to proactively address all concerns.
