Description:
The Maintenance Supervisor in Georgia is responsible for all maintenance aspects of the shift to which assigned. This position is accountable for developing and following established procedures and processes to continually improve safety, reliability, quality, housekeeping, cost, and productivity results through ensuring equipment reliability. The supervisor will plan and execute preventative maintenance jobs to ensure a high degree of equipment reliability, proper and timely repairs, hold a high standard for the quality and quantity of work generated by the Craftsmen, ensure jobs are performed safely, and will work to continually develop Craftsmen skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent. An associate’s or BS degree is preferred.
- 5 years of experience, preferably in a wood products manufacturing environment, with progressive experience and responsibilities.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and strong mechanical troubleshooting skills are required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop people.
- Competent with using a computer and typical office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- A servant leader, customer-focused, with continuous improvement mentality.
- Continually strives to improve personal knowledge and leadership capabilities.
- Ability and leadership courage to drive change.
- Ability to plan, solve problems, and make good decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with operations leadership to address and correct maintenance issues that negatively impact uptime, mill productivity, costs, and housekeeping.
- Utilize downtime indicators/metrics to drive feedback and prioritization of maintenance work requests/planning/prioritization to continually improve performance, reduce cost, and improve safety.
- Understands and continually strives to improve mill reliability, Craftsmen skill and knowledge, and quality and quantity of work. Develops and employs systems to improve and sustain the same. Documents thoroughly and uses documentation for training tools to improve results.
- Leads by example, leads with integrity, holds self and reports accountable, ensures consistency in actions and results, continually drives for results.
- Holds personnel accountable for housekeeping and orderliness standards – job is not complete until cleanup is done, all guards are back in place, parts and componentry are disposed of or taken to Stores to be sent out for repair if required. Builds depth/bench strength for all positions to ensure success into the future.
- Develops safety systems, trains personnel, ensures understanding, holds personnel accountable for safety performance and adhering to safety systems. Reviews systems at least annually to ensure they remain relevant and complete.
- Develops a sense of urgency and purpose in all maintenance personnel toward the quality and quantity of work and equipment reliability to support achieving the operational performance goals.
- Coordinates with operations leadership for support of planned maintenance work through housekeeping and orderliness standards required to ensure successful execution.
- Continually and diligently promotes safe work behaviors, practices, and conditions striving to improve plant safety culture, improve hazard awareness, and reduce risk tolerance thus reducing safety incidents and preventing serious and debilitating injuries.
