Description:

The Maintenance Supervisor located in Florida is responsible for overseeing the maintenance team and ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all sawmill equipment and machinery. This role includes planning and coordinating preventive maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, supervising maintenance staff, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate’s degree in mechanical/electrical maintenance or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a sawmill or wood products manufacturing environment.  2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficient with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate repairs and troubleshooting during equipment failures or unplanned downtime.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for sawmill equipment including saws, conveyors, kilns, planers, debarkers, and other production machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and millwrights.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and inventory of parts and tools.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, vendors, and contractors when necessary.
  • Recommend and implement improvements for mechanical systems and equipment reliability.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations after hours as needed.
  • Supervise daily maintenance activities, ensuring all equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Work closely with production management to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
