Description:

The Plant Controller in Florida is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations. This role partners with plant management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, cost analysis, budgeting, and compliance. The Controller plays a crucial role in helping the mill achieve operational efficiency and profitability while upholding accounting standards and internal controls.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.  CPA is preferred but not required.   
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably sawmill environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to managing financial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, financial planning, and inventory control.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Support capital expenditure tracking and reporting for equipment and facility upgrades.
  • Prepare and present financial performance reports to facility and executive leadership.
  • Oversee all daily accounting operations including A/P, A/R, payroll, inventory, general ledger, and month-end close.
  • Monitor raw material and finished goods inventory valuation, including physical counts and reconciliations.
  • Manage the annual budget and forecast for mill operations.
  • Manage all accounting functions for the Company including general ledger, inventory accounting, and cost control.
  • Maintain effective internal controls across all plant financial operations.
  • Lead external audit preparations and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Collaborate with operations to identify and drive cost-saving opportunities across the mill.
  • Analyze production costs, variances, and operational trends to guide decision making.
