Description:

The Project Manager in Washington reports to the Engineering Director and works directly with various groups to ensure successful projects from a technical, contractual, schedule, and budget-driven perspective. Internally, the PM coordinates with our sales and engineering team to ensure designs meet both internal and external expectations and report progress to senior management. Externally, the PM coordinates directly with our clients, vendors, fabricators, and contractors to ensure the project meets technical expectations and adheres to the schedule and budget. We are looking for a dedicated and highly organized individual with excellent written and communication skills. The successful candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills with respect to typical project management issues. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering or related fields.
  • PMP certification, Professional Engineering license, or other related advanced credential, experience will be considered
  • Five (5+) plus years of managing large industrial projects
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Project, and familiarity with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Familiarity and experience with wood products industry, drying, OSB, Bio based energy industries are a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Excellent time management skills

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, fabricators, and colleagues
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that will be shared with clients and contractors, as well as internal staff
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, and verbal instructions and be able to balance commercial, technical, and other project responsibilities to appropriately manage risks and drive successful project execution
  • Make project-related decisions independently but also recognize when to seek assistance and/or approval
  • Must be thorough, meticulous, well organized, and able to communicate and work well with all levels of supervisors and subordinates
  • Review client specifications and contracts to ensure internal and externals adherence to all requirements
  • Track project budget, invoicing, and reporting with all related parties to meet internal financial requirements
  • Track project progress and work with all parties to meet long-term and short-term project goals
  • Travel may be required during various parts of the project’s lifecycles, up to 25%
  • Work directly with clients to address project related issues including scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, and technical details
  • Work with construction management (internal and external) to coordinate on site activities
  • Work with engineering to develop technical specifications related to projects for the purpose of client submittals and equipment purchasing
  • Work with engineering to ensure drawings are developed on time for fabricators to meet project schedules.
  • Work with purchasing to pursue vendors and negotiate contracts for equipment being supplied to and erected on client’s project site
  • Work with QA/QC coordinating shop inspections to ensure quality and schedule is maintained throughout the project
