Description:

The Planer Mill Supervisor in Mississippi is responsible for the steady flow of inventory through the sawmill planer mill lumber processing operations with a continued focus on safety, and productivity. The primary role of the Supervisor is to lead the team, creating a culture of teamwork and cooperation between major processing segments and integration of operating personnel and maintenance staff.  This role encompasses various critical responsibilities related to the planer mill operations. 

Requirements:

  • High School Education or GED
  • 2+ years of experience as supervisor in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably sawmill environment with planer mill experience.
  • Excellent computer skills for quality record keeping and communication with other plant leadership. Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Lean manufacturing / 5S experience desired.
  • Previous experience working in and leading in wood products manufacturing environment.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills that come with years of working within manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of accounting and financial metric for mill operations

Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen, develop and motivate staff by managing responsibilities and ensuring accountability. Continually sharpen the professional skills of team members.
  • Provide ideas, innovations and suggestions for continuous improvement and opportunities.
  • Ensures safe work practices, follows safety procedures and completes required safety forms, checklists and permits.
  • Ensure quality standards and order specifications are met throughout the manufacturing process of the wide range of products.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and training by leading manufacturing principles and events with supervision.
  • Assist in promoting a continuous improvement culture through communication and coaching employees as well as finding opportunities for streamlining production activities and enhancing value-added processes.
  • Other Duties as needed.
