Description:
The Plant Controller in Georgia reports to the General Manager and is an integral member of the leadership team tasked with managing all aspects of financial operations, budgeting, and business analysis for multiple business units. Key responsibilities include supporting business objectives by providing timely financial reporting and tools to align financial goals with production activities, identifying cost-saving opportunities, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring top-tier GAAP compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.
- 10+ years of accounting experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Wood Products industry experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Etc.).
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, financial planning, and inventory control.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to managing financial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial statements, timely reports, and performance metrics to management and executive group.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Lead annual budgeting process, develop regular forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and production outputs to aid in strategic decision-making.
- Oversee cost accounting systems, track cost of goods sold, monitor inventory valuation, and analyze product margins.
- Drive improvement efforts in inventory management and cost controls to maximize profitability.
- Establish, maintain, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate and accessible.
- Manage payroll processes, AP, AR, purchasing practices, and stores inventory / working capital levels.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance staff, fostering a culture of learning, accountability and professional growth.
- Prepare and submit all required energy and sustainability reports, audits, and surveys which are an integral part of the business.
