Description:
The Process Piping Engineer in Washington must be familiar with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 codes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design layout, engineering, including stress analysis, and supporting the fabrication and installation team. They will ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations while meeting project requirements and deadlines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process piping design and engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Bentley & Autodesk piping design software such as AutoPlant, Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault, BIM or similar tools.
- Previous experience in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, mining, or power generation is a plus.
- Proficiency in ASME B31.1 and B31.3 codes and standards.
- Strong knowledge of piping materials, fabrication techniques, and installation methods.
Responsibilities:
- Working with QC and field personnel, provide technical support and ensure adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to process piping engineering.
- Safety, and compliance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 codes.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, specifications, and materials for compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to construction and installation teams during the implementation phase.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and material lists for piping systems.
- Perform stress analysis and hydraulic calculations to optimize piping system performance.
- Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and client presentations as needed.
- Oversee the design of all piping systems including Isometrics, Orthographic, and Supports in accordance with P&IDs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed piping projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop piping system designs that meet project specifications and client requirements.
