Description:
The Procurement Specialist will be located in Washington or Georgia and will represent the face of our company for many of our vendors, and occasionally customers, to support our project teams in sourcing fabrications and equipment from our broad group of suppliers, as well as help us find and qualify new suppliers and develop and mature our internal processes. Additionally, this person will work to coordinate shipments and transportation for international and domestic shipments. The successful candidate is a self‐starter and bring with them experience in capital equipment procurement who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty! This position reports directly to the Procurement Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering or Supply Chain Management is preferred. Industry experience and technical background could negate degrees.
- 5+ years’ experience in large capital equipment procurement.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Accepts and seeks constructive feedback.
- APICS and/or PMP certifications.
- Demonstrated experience developing relationships with suppliers.
- Excellent team collaboration skills, strong work ethic, and integrity.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Experience in logistics, shipping, and import/export requirements.
- Experience working with and integrating an ERP system
- Familiarity and experience with wood products industry.
- High‐level of customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meets deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Build and develop relationships with suppliers.
- Compile and send out RFQs for custom engineered fabricated equipment.
- Coordinate international and domestic shipping.
- Develop and adhere to internal processes about procurement.
- Develop working knowledge of industry and trending information with regard to pricing of various different components.
- Ensure project‐specific commercial terms and conditions flow down to suppliers.
- Identify and develop new suppliers and qualify them according to their capabilities.
- Identify and track key critical long‐lead items.
- Input and issue POs to suppliers with appropriate terms and conditions and other required flow downs.
- Maintain Approved Supplier List.
- Negotiate with suppliers to meet or exceed budgeted terms that match the company’s risk profile.
- Participate in project meetings to support and execute procurement plan.
- Review and negotiate NDAs, commercial terms and conditions, and payment terms.
- Review quotes received on a commercial and technical basis and identify exceptions and carve outs; recommend best supplier to team.
- Review RFQ packages created by engineering for suitability of quoting.
- Review RFQs submitted by project management and engineering and identify components on the BOM that may be split from the main order and purchased off the shelf from a preferred vendor for cost savings.
- Support sales teams in compiling cost estimates and lead times.
- Support short lead‐time projects and on‐site construction teams with quick‐turn responsiveness.
- Track key suppliers’ workload.
- Travel up to 25% of the time.
